BLENDING: Rice around the world varies in its physical
size, shape, taste, texture and other characteristics. Also throughout
the world consumer tastes vary from country to country. Some people
enjoy a soft cooking japonica type rice, such as the Japanese.
Others prefer the better expansion and harder cooking varieties
such as the Thai Peoples. Others prefer a fragrant type rice such
as Basmati or Jasmine types out of Asia. European people due to
the vast cultural base within their societies have developed a
taste for all types of rices. Consequently the rice miller finds
it necessary to prepare a whole range of well milled rice for
on-selling to consumers that covers a whole range of taste and
texture. Swedish Rice achieve this goal of presenting the wide
range of taste and texture by blending rices of a similar type
and characteristics to ensure that the taste and texture throughout
the year is consistent. Irrespective of the harvest periods in
one country, raw rice is imported, milled and blended to provide
a premium and consistent product, exactly as the consumer desires.
A computerized blending system ensures that just the right quantities
of each rice is mixed together.
COLOUR SORTING: The latest and most efficient color
sorting machines are used to remove any undesirable grains or
particles from the rice flow before packing. Hence Swedish Rice
by using a sophisticated photo analysis assessment of each grain
can determine that all brains are of suitable quality and the
appropriate milling degree in readiness for packing. Slightly
discolored grains or other particles arc rejected by a pulse of
compressed air and discarded, The color sorting machines rely
on each grain being individually passed by a series of sensor
such that out-of-standard grain or particles will cause the sensor
to activate the electro-pneumatic ejector that causes the removal
of the grain. The machine is computer controlled and extremely
sensitive. It can be adjusted to remove all foreign material as
well as slightly under milled and chalky grains. Because the machine
operates at a high capacity, it is not only a quality control
device but also a production unit capable of reducing the level
of chalkiness and white belly rice grains.
ASPIRATION: As with all grain processes the movement
of the grains throughout the milling process no matter how gentle
the handling process is, causes some white flour dust to be generated
by the grains. In order to remove this white flour and dust the
rice grains are exposed to an air-wash throughout the process
and especially prior to packing, Grains tumble through the airstreams,
which allows the high velocity air to remove the lighter dust
particles and deliver them in the airstreams to the dust collector
filter. This food grade rice flour and bran is packed separately.
All the well-milled rice grains after grading, color sorting and
aspiration are ready for consumption.
